Chapter 1
Chapter 1 a new beginning
The night’s journey was quiet, no one talked, no
one asked about the future, everyone said thank
you and went to a triangular shaped hut where they
would sleep, the gangsters who thought they were
tough never accepted this before. That is everyone
except Nareik. He saw what happened, and the green
glowing stuff had rubbed off on him, somehow. He
was curious about it, he took a look at his
bracelet, it was mysterious, and purple. He
wondered of the visitors, who had been so
generous, and the shadowy man, was he the only one
who noticed his odd disposition? Well he put the
green dust in his pocket, and then he felt
something… Something that wasn’t there before. A
presence. And then it was gone, just like that. He
checked his pockets; the green substance was gone
and in return was a note, “Welcome To The Island
Of Game!” He would save this note; he put it in
his pocket and emerged in the hut. The small hut
was much bigger than it looked, and everyone was
wondering what happened. Curious of what had
happened and of the bus driver, and everyone was
muttering their thoughts to each other. Everyone
except Nareik of course, he found a bed of hay
(Not a king sized bed, but it would help him in
the night.)
Nareik assumed it was around 7ish now but was not
sure of this strange world. Was this what was
beyond a whirlpool, and what was that rock? Nareik
in mid thought was accompanied bye his friends
Brian, and Derrick, the remorse the loss of their
good friend Peter, and talked about what they
would do.
“You think they are holding us prisoners? Where
are we?” Now Brian was stammering and he was never
really afraid of anything.
“No”, Toby appeared, “They are going to suck your
brains out you crybaby!”
“Ha hahahahhaha you are going to be thrown up by
them and smashed on a rock!” Paul rudely
interrupted. ”You see what they did to Willie?”
Brian trembling. “I t…h…i…n…k we will be fi…ne.
To himself, Nareik thought of Peter, and
Willie. “I wonder what is out there.” Peter had
said. Was this it? And what of Nareik’s violin
practice, and his family? There was no light in
the dark hut now and Nereik’s friends found hay
beds close to him, and the back. Nareik took the
note out of his pocket. It was now crumpled. He
unraveled it. And then he felt a cold breeze,
swooping all the hay, and moving it like a
whirlwind, swirling, he felt that presence again.
And then it stopped. Like a ghost, it vanished,
without a trace. Curious as ever, Nareik silently
left the hut, making as much noise as a lion’s
prey would before the attack. He put the note in
his pocket not even giving it a glance. He had no
hope for the next day. All he wished was that he
lived. As he looked up at the shining sky he gazed
at the moon. Red? A red moon? The sky was huge and
the moon looked so far away but so close.
“Like a fountain, the ornaments, and the flowing
breeze.” Nareik turned around, and shortly glanced
behind him, at Katherine, a girl in Nareik’s
class, who was very quite, and then he looked back
at the sky. “This place, is like a dream, but not
a happy one, a dream of another land with a moon
that is red…” In mid sentence she was cut off
“I do not think it is a moon.” Nareik exclaimed. I
thought it was, but look there are 5 beautiful
planets, all of different shades. Nareik opened
his note and read out loud. “Welcome to the Island
of Game! … It was … in my pocket I guess…”
Katherine surprised, touched it, and took it. She
held it up to the stars glimmering like a snow
glob, then the land, then and the red hovering
planet. As it passed the planets view, and in the
middle of the sky and the land it was in range of
a glowing rock, it too began to glow. Katherine
cleared her throat and said, “That just seemed
like the thing to do…”
Back in Nareik’s speechless hands, he knew what
the rocks were. “These rocks have powers, some
teleport things…” In min sentence the note’s words
changed like the night changes to day, slowly but
beautifully. The two read out loud together.
“Come at the brink of dawn to the spot.” Where was
this spot? How would they get there? “Looks like
we have a mission!” The twosome turned around and
saw the gang. A few moments later they all just
looked up at the sky
As soon as Brian, who volunteered to keep track of
time, thought dawn was near, the 5 sleeping
children could rest. But Brian thought it was dawn
every few minutes! So they all decided to just
stay awake. When it was really time, the 6 quietly
arose, and moved silently threw the hut. They had
chatted up a storm the night before, and were very
nervous. As they approached the exit they saw the
shadowy figure
